I share this tonight reminded of all the ways to be inspired by our tradition. For as long as I can remember — this hymn has been a mainstay at church services celebrating ordinations. My ears have most often heard it sung with a great amount of energy from strong male voices. It is a very familiar hymn and we have sung it for so long that sometimes its intent can get lost in the familiar.
The sound of the voice singing “the deer’s cry” is beautiful in itself and along with the imagery I would consider it an excellent way to begin each day. Thank you — “unapologetically Episcopalian” — a face book page that offers an environment to open and close each day in prayer as only the book common prayer can do.
