Advent 1 - Thursday
There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.
I look at this ornament and see an invitation—worn by its call. Vibrant in the sparkling light, it is intended to comfort a weary seeker. Its delicate shell hides nothing.
Not unlike the seeker it draws, the truth is told in the small fractures of this ornament. To gather the strength and proclaim that one is loved and worthy of love can be challenging and sometimes leave signs of struggle.
Proclaiming love can be risky. Many people are grateful for those willing to take that risk. In the season of Advent, we prepare for this proclamation of love’s arrival.
Now is the time to look for light and share it where it is most needed.
