Midnight hour
I will not abandon my belief in the coming dawn just because I dwell in the midnight hour.
STEVEN CHARLESTON
I am sitting in the dark tonight with two battery powered candles flickering on my dresser.
Our town put out a notice several weeks ago saying that electricity would be shut down at midnight November 16 for 6 hours. Can only imagine that there are updates to be done.
I am not fond of the dark. Probably a bit claustrophobic, pitch dark is more than unsettling. This day and time have been on and off my mind since the announcement.
Whew- this type of preparation takes too much energy! Full-blown anticipatory stress. Too much. Indeed!
So my plan… to listen Barbra Brown Taylor read from her book, “Learning to Walk in the Dark” as she craftily describes the beauty of the night sky.
While Charleston’s reflection holds the promise of day light.
And drift off to sleep.

I hope the imposed darkness became bearable. I like your plan and hope it passed the time well. From one claustrophobe to another.
