What happens every day is what’s surprising. The treasure’s never where I look to find it but where I simply look — the sky, the wind, sunrise, a silver arc, the moment’s chance.
‘The moment’s chance’ – As this author reflects, we can be gifted these moments throughout the day if we pay attention! Another obvious opportunity came to us earlier this week when the Northern Lights moved further south than anyone in my generation could have imagined.
A chance was given - a chance to see how easily we can connect to each other.
Earlier this year, there was an eclipse. In the hours leading up to that event, there was so much excitement—so much preparation! People were getting ready, talking about how they were getting ready, and giving advice on the best way to prepare. It was clearly a group effort. During that time, I was aware of the ties that can gently weave us together.
And this past week, it happened again! We prepared to look to the sky. As the unexpected lights glowed in the night, people took pictures. They even took pictures of their friends’ houses as the lights were shown above the rooftops to share with those who could not stay up that late.
The glowing lights were clear and bold in color and size. Many people stopped their overscheduled days to stand together and look at this phenomenon, experiencing our connection to a much larger universe.
So, once again, we were gifted with time to put aside our differences and join this beauty of nature.
It can happen each day - maybe not as large as eclipses and Northern Lights, but change moments are all around.
What would you look for? Who would you share it with?
