Just Beyond Yourself…

There is a road always beckoning.
When you see the two sides of it
closing together at that far horizon
and deep in the foundations of your own heart
at exactly the same time,
that’s how you know it’s the road
you have to follow.
that’s how you know
it’s where you have to go.
That’s how you know.
It’s just beyond yourself,
it’s where you need to be.

Fields with light

IMG_0370
The moon is at her full, and riding high,
Floods the calm fields with light.
The airs that hover in the summer sky
Are all asleep tonight.

Fields with light… summer air all asleep.

It is a transition time. During my afternoon walks I have noticed the shadows growing long – a reminder that the earth is shifting. The Summer sun’s heat is cooling. The leaves are proud to show their beauty as they dry and fall away from their charge, no longer needed to shade sidewalks and yards.

Transition time- moments suspended as what-has-been departs and what-will-be has not yet arrived. All of creation knows this stretch. Even though this is a part of nature’s way, brave work is required.

There is a time of Fall for each of us. A time of transition- when who we are begins to stretch toward a new ‘becoming’. It is work. A time of letting go and trusting that our growth will come from the rich soil of our foundation.

Fall is the season of in-between. May your’s be filled with gratitude and wonder.

a single step

A journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step.

A single step – once taken- perception changes. This is true for long journeys or that first step through your doorway as a new day begins.

Greet this new day. Take the step.

The eve of Holy Week

We are on the edge of Holy Week – a week in the Christian tradition filled with many doorways and transitions. If this is a journey you take each year, notice all of the doors of this coming week. Consider the choices made each day, each hour — which thresholds would be entered by Jesus and all the people surrounding him.

Doorways and thresholds- facing risk and grace.

Door of transition

from one transition to another. it takes a flexibility that can sometimes push the limit. be gentle with yourself as you move through these transitions. you are not alone. we all face unexpected and challenging doorways – even when they are beautiful. remember to breath.
